Alex Ruani, Ph.D.(ps), leads the research division at The Health Sciences Academy, the largest online educator on nutrition science in the UK, where she and her team make sense of complex scientific studies and translate them into easy-to-understand practical concepts for students.
Alex studied nutrition at Cornell and genetics at Harvard, and is a research scientist specialising in nutrition science, cravings and appetite neurobiology, and nutrigenomics (how food compounds switch genes on and off).
Mitigating the risk of wrong advice caused by conflicting dietary theories and opinions that miss an adequate interpretation of the science is one of her top priorities.
Besides investigating and teaching the latest science, Alex reaches over 200,000 weekly readers through her free Science Catch-up emails, where she loves to share what she discovers in order to help others live happier, healthier lives.
