The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company began in 2010 when Jonathan Williams decided to start focusing on what was important to him. Family, food and his home in South Pembrokeshire. By May of the next year Jonathan quit working at a land locked office in Swindon in favour of making a living from the beach in Pembrokeshire full time. Jonathan started doing local markets around the county and his signature ‘Seashore Wraps’ turned out to be very popular. Suddenly the tiny business was thrust into the British Street Food Awards. Jonathan’s kitchen beach shack won multiple golds including ‘Best of the Best 2011’.
Speciality products materialised as a natural extension of the recipes sold on the beach shack. Soon dried seaweeds, seasonings and savoury biscuits made with sea foraged ingredients were available to buy and use at home.
The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company now supply a handful of small retailers, with their Welshman’s Caviar (awarded two ‘Great Taste’ awards to date), Ship’s Biscuits, Mermaid Confetti, Captain Cat’s Môr Seasoning and other curious nautical creations.
Every product tells a story, whether it’s a nod to the tradition of picking laver in the rural county where the company originates or conjuring up tales of endless adventure on the high sea!
