Enterprise Ireland is the Irish government agency responsible for developing the internationally focussed, value added food industry in Ireland. We work with both international and domestic companies and also finance much of the food focussed R&D activities being undertaken in pro-business Ireland.

Enterprise Ireland has the national brief in Ireland for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in food & beverage manufacturing and innovation. This is in addition to Enterprise Ireland’s role in company development in the indigenous food sector, working with Irish-owned food businesses in respect of their value-adding activities in Ireland across all food, drinks and animal nutrition sub-sectors.

Ireland is renowned for the quality of its food ingredients and the rigorous standards in animal welfare, quality, traceability, food safety and disease control. Its environment and natural resources make food production sustainable and environmentally friendly – the carbon footprint of Irish food production is among the lowest in the EU.

Ireland is a major innovation and manufacturing centre for the food industry in Europe and in the world, and has been chosen as a location for investment by food & drink companies like Danone, Coca-Cola, Pepsico, Abbott, Diageo, Ferrero, Mondalez, Aryzta and many others. 90% of Ireland’s current food production is exported across the world.

Enterprise Ireland has developed the “Smart Food Ireland” brand. This brand brings together the various resources and capabilities in Ireland around areas such as food innovation, manufacturing excellence, food safety etc.
