Corporate Outreach Manager, Veganuary
Roger Roberts spent ten years as National Account Manager for a portfolio of food and drink multinationals on behalf of the UK government. He has since worked as a freelance food industry consultant specialising in supporting the plant-based sector, championing innovative alternatives to meat and dairy, and promoting sustainable food systems. He is currently working as Corporate Outreach Manager for Veganuary, the campaign which encourages flexitarians and others to try vegan for the month of January and beyond: www.veganuary.com Roger's role is to encourage and support large food companies, retailers and restaurants to expand their plant-based offerings, launch new vegan products and to benefit from the huge increase in interest in vegan food and drink amongst consumers. Roger has been vegan himself for many years and believes that, although such individual choices can make a real difference, systemic change through active government policy is urgently required throughout the supply chain. As such, he has a particular interest in current European food and farming subsidy arrangements, bringing about a level playing field for producers of plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy, and policies which encourage greater environmental sustainability, improve human health and significantly reduce animal suffering. Roger has an MSc in Food Policy from City, University of London.
