Policy & Strategy Director, Soil Association
Jo leads the Soil Association policy unit and the development of its strategy in support of the vision of good food for all, produced with care for the natural world. Jo led the development of the Soil Association’s Food for Life Served Here scheme, which now certifies catering provision of over 2 million meals a day in over 10,000 schools and other public settings to health, sustainability and animal welfare standards. Jo is also Chair of the Food Ethics Council, a charity that provides independent advice on the ethics of food and farming with the aim of creating a food system that is fair and healthy for people, animals and the environment. In previous roles, Jo was Convener of Defra’s Sustainable Consumption Roundtable from 2004-6, Head of Policy at think tank Green Alliance and UK Chair of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy.
