Sophie first fell in love with beer whilst working in a real ale pub and after a year, wanted to understand more about brewing and beer. From here she started her career as a brewer with Brentwood Brewing Company. After 7/8 years she decided it was time to move on and develop herself with Muntons, a UK maltings. Looking after the pilot brewery and working closely with brewers across the globe was a great role. However, a year into the role her health was getting worse and after a long process of dietary elimination, Sophie discovered that she has an allergy to barley and wheat. Bit tough for a brewer! With brewing being a passion and having developed so much through the 10 years of brewing, Sophie still wanted to follow what she is good at and in an industry she loves. Now brewing at Burnt Mill Brewery she has developed a naturally gluten free beer along with traditionally brewed beers and continues to enjoy a beer and the career she loves.
