Sophia Cooke

Sophia Cooke is the CEO for Ugo Foods Group Ltd, the UK’s longest established and leading fresh pasta and noodle manufacturer, best known for creating China Town as we know it and its award-winning Dell’Ugo® and Free From Ugo Thrive products. With over 15 years’ experience in the UK food sector, including five years in senior management positions at Tesco, Cooke brings a wealth of commercial expertise and insight to Ugo Foods. 

Specialising in retail, insight and brand development, Sophia Cooke is best known for disrupting the market with breakthrough brands, whilst delivering significant commercial step changes as Tesco’s Head of Customer Strategy for the Convenience Foods Division. Her breadth of experience and success both within the corporate and start-up world has cemented her ability to be adaptable and strategic, whilst having an infectious energy that drives her and her team. Previous companies include Gate Gourment / easyJet, World Duty Free and BAA, where she has had leadership roles in Commercial including Buying, Category Management and Project Management. 

During the last year, Ugo Foods has re-launched 2 game changing brands within the fresh pasta and free from category, Dell Ugo and Ugo Thrive, won 2 Golds and 1 Silver at the Free From and Allergen awards and won 2 awards at the Hertfordshire Business Awards including the Innovation Award and Company of the Year. Ugo Foods is a totally unique business with an incredible mix of more than 85 years of family heritage, uncompromising quality values and the ability to respond and innovate beyond most manufacturers in the industry. Their state of the art, AA+ BRC rated production facilities are leading the way technologically and continuous investment has kept Ugo at the forefront of quality chilled food manufacture. The Chilled Convenience Food Category is one of the most exciting and dynamic in the UK food sector and Ugo Foods has the potential to forge new levels of growth and innovation within it.

Away from Sophia’s professional life, she is married with a 4 year old son and lives near Saffron Walden. She is passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle, whilst indulging in music and food, the essentials of life!
