Founder and Managing Director, Hitch
Gary founded Hitch in 2011, a leading UK social behaviour change agency working with organisations and brands to tackle some of the world’s biggest social issues. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and regular contributor at national and international conferences on the theme of social marketing, Gary has helped design, implement and scale a vast array of programmes, campaigns, initiatives and projects. His career has been a blend of advertising executive, social activist, public health commissioner, charity director and social entrepreneur. Briefs have been as diverse as localising Change4life and piloting and scaling Dry January to stimulate healthier social norms, to mobilising people to use sustainable travel and reducing stigma towards refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. Besides spending his time collaborating, designing, innovating and leading, he hangs out with his wife and three daughters, and can occasionally be found up a mountain murmuring the words ‘help’ or ‘wow’.
