Erik Torringa has worked for more than 10 years in various roles within the Infant Formula Industry. Currently he is responsible for the business- and product development of functional carbohydrates in infant formula. He completed a Master degree in Food Science as well as the MBA degree in Food & Agribusiness at Wageningen Agricultural University, the Netherlands. His vast experience includes new product development and market launches, product- and innovation portfolio management and B2B marketing.

The portfolio that is under his responsibility includes infant formula lactose, galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) and human milk oligosaccharides (HMO). Under his supervision the GOS business has expanded to a major business for FrieslandCampina. This has been achieved via introduction of new GOS products, new market entries and capacity expansions. At the present time FrieslandCampina is launching a first HMO, 2’-Fucosyllactose, which is the most abundant oligosaccharide in human milk. The launch activities comprise nutritional research, expanding capacity, ingredient registration and commercial business development.
