Consultant, public health lead on the first UK sugar smart city, Public Health Brighton and Hove
Katie Cuming has been a Consultant in Public Health Medicine in Brighton and Hove since 2015 when she moved from the London Borough of Croydon. She trained and worked as a GP having spent several years as a junior doctor alternating work in the NHS with humanitarian aid work in sub-Saharan Africa and Afghanistan. During specialist training in public health she worked in the NHS as well as the Department for International Development and Institute for Development Studies.
In Brighton and Hove as the consultant leading on health improvement, with a focus on food and healthy weight, she continues to follow a long term interest in food nutrition and health, having previously worked on the treatment of malnutrition in low income countries, supporting infant feeding and obesity She chairs the healthy weight programme board.
