Senior Lecturer and Research Associate, Royal Holloway University and Institute for Fiscal Studies
Melanie Lührmann is a Senior Lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London, and Research Associate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. Her work has been published in international academic journals, BBC radio and in the international press.
Melanie studies the long-run implications of public policies to improve health and nutrition across the population. In her nutrition work, she has investigated the joint evolution of Brits’ (reduced) food and calorie purchases, a decreasing strenuousness of work and increasingly sedentary lifestyles over the last 40 years. In recent joint work, she highlights how much sugar children and teenagers consume and where it comes from.
