Louise Lam

I am a registered dietitian having previously worked at Kingston Hospital covering areas including elderly, respiratory, critical care and gastroenterology. My current role is Public Health Obesity Lead for the London Borough of Bexley. I am responsible for commissioning weight management services for children and adults and overseeing projects that contribute to reducing obesity, through engaging with food businesses, schools and voluntary organisations. My main area of focus has been on childhood obesity and tackling the complexity of obesity by addressing the wider systems approach. This has involved building working relationships with stakeholders in the local authority including Planning, Regeneration, Environmental Health and Economic Development. I am also the Childhood Obesity Officer in the Specialist Obesity Group at the British Dietetics Association. I have participated in the PHE sugar reduction meetings, sugar smart campaign, supporting Sustain and the Obesity Health Alliance with restrictions on junk food marketing to children, and drafting statements in response to the Government’s Childhood Obesity Strategy.
