Now in its fourth successful year!
Yes, ‘freefrom’ food has definitely arrived and the market just keeps on growing – by 38% in the last year according to recent figures for Kantar World Panel.
And we are not just talking retail here. Since the arrival of the 2014 food regulations requiring all food service outlets to be able to tell customers about any of the 14 major allergens in their food, the food service world has realised that offering ‘freefrom’ food opens up a whole new market. Not just those who have a medical reason to avoid gluten or milk products but that 30%+ of the population who see eating ‘freefrom’ as a healthier and more environmentally friendly way to live.
The FreeFrom Eating Out Awards were launched in 2014 to raise awareness of the potential of ‘freefrom’ within the food service market - and to offer a reward for excellence to those who were adventurous enough to try it!
The awards have been hugely successful and this year include not only individual cafés, restaurants and even fish and chippers who have chosen to go down the ‘freefrom’ route, but chains such as Pizza Express and JD Wetherspoons – and top end West End restaurant such at Indigo at One Aldwych.
There is also a well filled category for foods manufactured for foodservice.
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony on November 21st in the conference pod followed a by invitation-only drinks reception.
