Hi I’m Dr Effie Papargyropoulou,

I'm a Lecturer of Sustainable Food Networks at the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds. I am the Programme Lead for the MSc Sustainable Food Systems and the Student Education Lead on food systems within the Global Food and Environment Institute (GFEI). Before joining the University of Leeds, I worked as a lecturer in Sustainability in Malaysia for six years, and before that as environmental consultant in the UK.

I’m an environmental social scientist interested in understanding how we can make our food system more sustainable. In my research I look at ways we can prevent food waste, what we can do with food surplus and how that relates to food poverty. My research is challenge led, impact driven and interdisciplinary by combining approaches from various fields/ disciplines.
