Professor of Land Economy and Society, University of Exeter

Michael Winter OBE is Professor of Land Economy & Society at the University of Exeter. He is a rural policy specialist and social scientist with particular interests in applying inter-disciplinary approaches to policy-relevant research and in direct engagement in the policy process. His current research focuses on sustainable agro-food systems and food security & the historical and contemporary sociology of west country agriculture. He is PI on an ESRC project on the impact of COVID-19 on the UK food system. He chairs the Devon Local Nature Partnership and is a board member of Natural England, the UK Joint Nature Conservation Committee and Rothamsted Research.
